Highmark Walk for a Healthy Community
On Saturday, May 22, over 2,100 people laced up their walking shoes to do a Fun One Mile or 5K Walk to support 35 non-profit organizations. The walk was on City Island in Harrisburg and it raised over $210,000 to benefit these organizations.
There were over 140 walkers at City Island representing Caitlin’s Smiles. Some teams included were Deloitte, Highmark, Dauphin Smiles, Central Dauphin Middle School and lots of friends and families. We even had virtual teams walk in Ohio (Dayton Miles for Smiles) and Massachusetts.
Over $12,000 was raised for Caitlin’s Smiles. This was our largest fundraiser ever!!
Thanks to everyone who helped whether walking, pledging or planning! You did a fantastic job! We’re looking forward to next year’s walk!
How you can help this summer:
Summer is a great fun time of the year for family fun! No school, no club meetings, Sunday School, etc! However, summer is a very tough time for children in hospitals who have to miss summer vacation plans to continue their treatment. As you’re enjoying your family vacation, remember how lucky you are!
One way to help this summer is by checking out our craft assembly schedule on our website for upcoming events. We need help on days, evenings, and weekend to pack and fill hospital orders.
Our craft supplies always dwindle in the summer because no schools or clubs are doing craft drives. Consider donating some items such as Play Dough, coloring books, markers and crayons. They will be enjoyed by a child in the hospital!
