A Note From Cheryl
I hope everyone is enjoying a great summer season with friends and family. We’ve had a blessed summer with lots of new volunteers filling in the gaps while schools, civic groups, scouts and Sunday schools are off for the summer. When you’re out shopping for back-to-school supplies for your children in the upcoming weeks, please consider buying extras for Caitlin’s Smiles. Summer is our time to try to stock up with enough crayons, magic markers and spiral bound notebooks to last until end of the year!
We have our first annual Volunteer Fair coming up on Sept 17. Come and meet our other volunteers and get the “full” picture of Caitlin’s Smiles – fundraising efforts, programs, packing supplies, leading groups, working with clinics and the Ronald McDonald House, etc. The event will run from 9am – 1 pm. More details to be announced soon!
Smiles Needed From Young Artists
Have you, or a child you know, received a Bag of Smiles from Caitlin's Smiles while in a hospital or clinic? If so, could you help with a worthwhile project? You may end up smiling as much as young artists who are donating their talents to other children in hospitals!
Caitlin's Smiles will hold an auction of children's art on October 1, 2011, as a part of our "Night of Smiles" Art Auction Benefit at the Radisson Hotel Harrisburg Hershey in Camp Hill. Any child who has received one of our "Bags of Smiles," craft kits, or toys from a hospital or clinic is eligible to donate one of their original artistic creations. Artwork will be auctioned off at the art benefit and some will be saved to decorate the office! Photos will be taken of all artwork to share at the event.
Donated artwork may be paintings, pottery, photography, jewelry or other media. All proceeds will help the organization put smiles on the faces of children with chronic or life threatening conditions.
Children wishing to donate a work of art should have their parents contact Caitlin's Smiles at 717-412-4759 or at firstname.lastname@example.org for more details. (We also welcome donations of professional pieces too!)
We are looking for local artists who would like to donate art, which could include oil, acrylic, watercolor, sculpture, ceramic, jewelry, fiber, glass, photography and traditional prints. We are also looking for donations of art from children who have received our bags in the hospital. Please contact us for more information at email@example.com.

Thank You's For This Month
On behalf of The Children’s Inn at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, MD, thank you for your in-kind gift.
We SMILE, because that’s your name – and that’s what you do! Thank you for refurbishing so generously the craft room shelves with so much new material – in fact 2 boxes full of craft items.
Thank you for giving our young patients this fabulous gift of making their own creations – and “smile” about it – with a sense of accomplishment as well as a morale booster.
We thank you for “smiles” not often present in our environment!
