A Note From Cheryl
Where has summer gone? My family is scrambling to get to the park that one last time before shopping for back-to-school supplies.
We’ve had a great summer, with lots of volunteers helping us get hospital orders filled, fundraising to purchase supplies and helping with office tasks. In July, we reached over 800 children with Bags of Smiles, and over 10,000 children in our area’s hospitals benefited from our craft kits.
The FajitaFest and the Forester Knoebel Amusement Resort Day were both great summer fundraisers once again! Thanks to all who helped!

Thank You For This Month
When my daughter Ashley was diagnosed with leukemia at age 19 months, our lives turned upside down and from that point changed forever. People ask me all the time "how could you smile and be happy while your child is suffering.” The chemo treatments were terrible, but the people we met along the way are very special! Caitlin’s Smiles is one of those groups of people you don't forget. I remember waiting with Ashley for hours for her blood counts to come back or to visit her doctor and someone from Caitlin’s Smiles would be sitting there with us. They helped Ashley do crafts and color papers. Sometimes even strung beads to make her a necklace or bracelet. When she was strong, she
had fun doing it with them. When she was weak, they made it for her to see her smile! They made her happy! I also think back to when we were in the hospital and received a special bag of goodies from Caitlin’s Smiles. There were books, stickers, and even a tiny pair of princess gloves for our sweet little princess to put on. Caitlin’s Smiles is an amazing organization that helped our little girl when she was going through the toughest time in her life. She is now 7 years old and cancer-free. Thank you Cheryl and all the Caitlin’s Smiles volunteers for bringing joy to Ashley and so many other children. The difference you make for the families is priceless!!
