Lace up those shoes, get yourself ready! It’s time to WALK for SMILES!
It’s time to get your walk on! You can be a part of the awesome crew of walkers who come together each year to raise thousands of dollars to support Caitlin’s Smiles. Our walkers have been a mainstay in the walk since 2010. Attend the event or be a virtual walker and ask others to join you. Virtual walkers are often located out of the Harrisburg area and walk where it is convenient for them – a park, their neighborhood, etc. Every year, Caitlin’s Aunt Coco (Collette Shultz) walks and leads her neighborhood team, Coco’s Dream Team.
Highmark provides each walker with their own secure fundraising page that can be shared on social media or through email. Also, they donate the walk shirts, raffle prizes and costs of publicity.
Many walkers ask for donations from friends & family, while others host their own fundraisers to raise money. In the past walkers have had garage sales, and sold items like candy, baked goods and plants. Other ideas… host a fundraising night at a restaurant, schedule a car wash (once it’s warmer) or have a cookoff (chili, mac & cheese, soups). 100% of the funds raised by our walkers comes to Caitlin’s Smiles for outreach. Craft night leader, Diane Boyd, is having a Mr. Sticky’s (Mechanicsburg) fundraiser for her walk fund. Check with a restaurant near you to find out if they host fundraisers.
**To help our local walkers raise funds, Caitlin’s Smiles will be having an R&K sub sale in April/early May. Profits from the sale will be added to each walkers’ fundraising efforts. More information to come next month!
