It was Christmastime 2005 when Diane Boyd reached out to Cheryl for a project for her employer, Liberty Mutual, as part of its once-a-month lunchtime volunteer program. When Diane returned those completed projects, she asked for more.
From there, Diane says, “I started helping whenever and wherever I could.” Caitlin’s Smiles and especially our kids are grateful that she is still doing that.
Diane has donated hundreds of hours not only as a craft leader but in assembling craft kits and helping with fundraisers. She has been a familiar face at the tables at local businesses as they raised money for our cause. Those are only a few.
Shortly before joining Caitlin’s Smiles, Diane suffered the loss of her husband. “I had a huge hole in my heart to fill,” she says. “Cheryl has kept me busy and happy since. I am beyond grateful for the purpose and life she has given me.
“I’ve stayed because I love what we do. Cheryl and Elsie (Stroup, who has been a volunteer and leader almost since Cheryl founded Caitlin’s Smiles) have become like family. My heart was forever changed when I met them, and I’ll spend the rest of my life thanking them with my actions.”
