We’re excited to announce that we have a special guest joining our efforts at the Walk for A Healthy Community on Saturday, May 18th at the HACC campus. BethAnn Telford of Harrisburg has participated in many types of sports and athletic activities and now she’s walking to help put smiles on the faces of children in medical facilities.
After experiencing problems running the 2004 Marine Corps Marathon, she was diagnosed with brain cancer and had her first brain surgery in April 2005. Since then, BethAnn has undergone a second brain surgery, a neurostimulator implant and bladder augmentation surgery. BethAnn has dedicated herself to helping raise brain cancer awareness and finding a cure.
BethAnn founded Team BT as part of the Race for Hope – DC 5K Run/Walk and raised more than a million dollars for brain cancer research. She has participated in countless charity and fund-raising events. In 2017, she completed the World Marathon Challenge (amazing physical challenge to run 7 marathons on 7 continents on 7 consecutive days) to help raise funds for research. Stop by our booth to meet this incredible woman or say hi to her during the walk.
We are proud to have her as a new board member. In 2018, she was the guest speaker for A Night of Smiles Art Auction. She’s also donated autographed gear and other items for our auctions.
