The Kiwanis International Pennsylvania District Key Club held its annual convention in Hershey, PA, in April. Caitlin’s Smiles was chosen as their charity of choice for the 22/23 school year. Key Club is an international student-led organization that provides its members with opportunities to perform service, build character, and develop leadership.
The convention room was filled with high school students who did all the things that make a Bag of Smiles complete. Sorting and stacking supplies, carefully packing crayons, coloring books, and Play-Doh, and then double checking to make sure the bags were done just right. The Pennsylvania Key Club donated all of the supplies used for this giant volunteer session. Founder & director Cheryl Hornung made an appearance at the event where she shared Caitlin’s Smiles mission and origin with the group. Afterward, the bags were transported to Smiles Central for them to be distributed to kids spending time in regional hospitals.
The Pennsylvania District, chartered in 1947, has over 12,000 members with over 200 clubs.
