Remembering Charles

December 2, 2025

There weren’t many tasks here at Caitlin’s Smiles that Charles Radle didn’t do. He, along with his wife, Lenchen, began volunteering with Caitlin’s Smiles in 2009 and they soon became familiar faces here. Having Charles here at Smiles Central was like having your dad around to make sure tasks were completed and everything was in working order. If there was a job that needed to be done, he’d do it. He was our official paper cutter for years; he assembled journals & craft kits, made deliveries and picked up donations, did routine maintenance, and so much more. Up until a few years ago, Charles and Lenchen would volunteer every morning, but eventually settled on Tuesdays as their prime volunteer day. The hours he spent volunteering here are really remarkable. He logged 4,300 hours over those years, and that’s just the hours that were kept track of.

Charles made a huge impact on tens of thousands of children he never met. His kind personality, his friendly and joking manner, along with his work ethic, made an incredible impression and helped to make Caitlin’s Smiles the welcoming place to volunteer that it has become.

Charles will be missed every single day at Smiles Central, but especially on Tuesdays.
